About

Not all escapes are found on maps; some are found in time. Tucked into a quiet hollow just about 20 minutes from Dale Hollow Lake and Lake Cumberland, this 1919 schoolhouse offers a slower summer rhythm. Sunlight filters through original wood floors, the seasonal creek hums nearby, and fireflies dance at dusk. Spend your days on the water, then return to stillness. Hidden Creek is a storybook stay you step into, not rush through. Evenings stretch long under starlit skies.

We loved our stay at The Schoolhouse! It was just as the pictures looked but even better. It feels so comfortable from the minute you walk inside. We will definitely be back. Jason and Toni were great host.

We had a great stay at the schoolhouse! It was really cool to stay in and there were a lot of cool things around the property to enjoy such as the nature and stream right down the hill! The place was super clean and everything was laid out nicely so we had room to enjoy cards and a couple drinks ! We had a good time although we were not there much while we were at the house it was enjoyable ! 5 stars !

The place was lovely, well-appointed and elegantly designed. It’s in a quiet, leafy spot with a sloping lawn, a small creek. The interior had everything we needed, and there is great attention to detail. Roomy, with a comfortable couch, and a deep tub in the bathroom, that even features a television. All-in-all a charming, restful stay.

This place was beautiful, quiet and historic. Hosts were very responsive and helpful! The creek outside the schoolhouse was beautiful. My favorite things were the attention to detail, the hosts provided bathroom essentials and some goodies to enjoy during the stay! We will definitely be back in the future.

If you're looking for a peaceful, private, slow-paced getaway this is exactly what you've been searching for! I wanted to get away from the city and relax for a week and this was the perfect place to do that. The one room schoolhouse has historic charm with the original floors and the chalkboard and it's much bigger than I expected. Everything was clean and exactly as pictured and every amenity plus extras was there waiting for us on arrival. Checking in and out was very easy and Jason and Toni always responded to any questions I had. The scenery and vibes of Monticello are just indescribable. It's like going back in time to a different America. And if you want modern stuff like Walmart and fast food it's an easy 15 minute drive into "downtown" Monticello. This is not a place for exciting adventures but it's the perfect place to recharge and slow down for awhile and spend quality time with loved ones while surrounded by southern charm found in the nature and the people living there.
